Perhaps the game of tennis is not very popular in our region, but there are people interested in it through the Western media, and we have developed a special attachment to it since we saw it as an anime series in childhood. Do you remember the half-hero Ramon? Well luckily for us as video players, this is one of the sports that gets a great game every year, and it is one of the most stable sports series over the years. This year there is a historic shift for the series. After it was exclusive for the past 15 years for PlayStation devices, it is expanding and appearing as an Xbox game for the first time, looking for a great expansion in the crowd and transferring the popularity of the game to the next stage.
In this review we go through the game experience on the PS5, and the next generation version of the games. And maybe the first thing that we looked at was the improvement in the graphics, of course there is an improvement, but do not expect a big move. And this should be logical, because the game during the past years has reached a very high level in terms of fees, so the area of development has become simple. This year, we are talking about an improvement in lighting at the level of the new generation, in addition to providing many graphics (animations) for players.
Tennis is a sport that needs a lot of precision and focus, and this is a natural thing to move into a video game. This is considered one of the most difficult sports in general, but the development team went to great lengths to make it suitable even for those looking for a simple and entertaining experience. We are talking about various difficulty modes, the first being the Casual mode, which makes the game more like arcade and open to beginners. Then we have Simulation and Competitive modes, which are respectively more difficult, and require a deeper understanding of the capabilities of the players in each team as well as high skills from the player himself.
The game from time to time introduces new options for controlling, until it has several options, and for those who prevent the development team from presenting new options this year as well. We are talking about the new Pinpoint Pitching method of throwing the ball, which is complex and similar to the implementation of fighting moves in Street Fighter, but it gives strong results for those who have great patience in the process of learning and training. This year I liked the implementation of the new PS5 hand reflex system, which you can feel both during throwing and reception.
The game contains many game modes, and one of the most fun is Road to the Show, which takes you on a journey from the Draft stage to stardom in the Major League. The mode was a great experience for us, but we saw that the progress is a bit slow, and we were very disappointed by not having the ability this time to transfer the archive file from last year. The game added some beautiful realistic touches this time, such as videos from the famous broadcaster Robert Flores, which will accompany you in the various stages of Road to the Show. What is unique this year in RTTS mode is that you will be able to play on both sides at the same time, meaning that you can be the holder of the bats, or the pitcher of the ball in the same team. One of the new features in the game is also loadouts, so that you can equip your player in different ways and switch between them instantly, and this will be especially useful when changing the playing position.
Finally, don’t forget Diamond Dynasty, which is parallel to the famous Ultimate Team from FIFA. In Diamond Dynasty you can create your own team and compete in it, and the beautiful thing is that you can bring your player or Ballplayer from RTTS mode and use it here, and develop it cumulatively through the two different modes.
A great news that will please the game fans is that the stadium creation mode has finally arrived for the game, but it is exclusive to the new generation version (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S / X). And you can modify known stadiums, or build a completely new stadium from scratch. Unfortunately, one of the features that existed in the past and is disappearing this year as well is the Sounds of the Show feature, which used to allow you to add your own music inside the game, in things like entry shots to the stadium.
MLB The Show 21 this year comes to all video players on the console and the new generation, and it renews the fun of tennis sport with beautiful additions and a wonderful appearance, despite the sour atmosphere with some unexpected absences of the usual features.
